Multiples sclerosis is a potentially disabling diseases. The pouring techniques represent the chaotic nature of the disease. The tears gradually increase in size throughout the artworks in order to show the gradual deterioration of the protective coating (myelin sheath) of the nerve fibers. The stitching represents the messages within the central nervous system being altered. I left the frame exposed as it represents the nerve fiber meanwhile the coating gradually deteriorates.
ABOUT hana

My name is Hana Nayal and I am currently a university student studying Fashion Marketing at the University of Leeds. I have always been interested in the arts and the fashion industry. Taking the IBDP Art course allowed me to really broaden my horizons and have a more modern and conceptual approach to art. This enabled me to shed light on issues that I felt passionate about. I have started a retail company which I hope will allow me to grow as an entrepreneur. While I won't be pursuing a career in fine art, I will continue to pursue it as a form of expressing sociopolitical issues that I feel need to be addressed, and look forward to continuously using art as my creative outlet.
